Setting up shop in HTC’s headquarters | HTC
The challenge
HTC didn’t just want to tell their employees about their new brand; they wanted to show them. So they asked us to design a ‘quietly brilliant’ merchandise store for their global headquarters in Taipei.
The only rules? The store had to be easy to set up, and even easier to look after.
The thinking
Rather than setting out to sell products, we agreed that our main goal was creating a focal point in the atrium.
A shop didn’t feel quite right. So we designed a market stall instead – a place for people to see, touch and play with a collection of quietly brilliant things. The stall itself is inspired by HTC’s doodle style, while the objects and products each have a little description to explain what makes them quietly brilliant.
The outcome
The market stall opened in the Taipei headquarters in October last year. It sells all sorts of quietly brilliant products – from flasks to bags, notepads to t-shirts. And with new things being added all the time, there’s always something interesting to look at.
The stall has given the headquarters a fun, playful atmosphere and has brought the brand to life in new ways. What’s more, it’s easy to set up and pack away, so will hopefully be rolled out in regional offices and at HTC events.
