Infinite Energy
Sam Tilley approached Figtree in early 2010 looking for guidance on how to turn the UK solar ‘feed in’ tariff into a business idea. Quite simply the feed in tariff rewards who produce their own electricity via solar means. At Figtree, we have an interest in renewable energy so this idea looked like the perfect opportunity to start our Fig Ventures initiative, a relationship whereby we take a stake in the company as means of payment.
The first priority was to help Sam identify the best business opportunities available. By mapping the market and looking at the expertise required in any one area to succeed, we wereable to decide on industrial and brown field sites as the best locations for installing solar panels (as opposed to residential settings).
We named the company, ‘Infinite Energy,’ and crafted a simple logo and identity system to get the brand off the ground. We then created a simple website and basic marketing materials.
Since the proposition and brand have been defined, Infinite Energy have successfully completed their first round of fundraising and is in the process of a second round. There are 10 projects in the pipeline with up to 30MW of potential solar installations.
